ANYTIME, ANYWHERE EVANGELISM WITH MACKIE SRM SERIES SPEAKERS
If you're the sound equipment manager for an evangelical church, then your role in bringing people to God is helping to bring God's message to the people, wherever they happen to be.
Sometimes that means setting up a rented park band shell for a Christian rock concert followed by a short sermon. At the holidays, it's rigging a parade float for live or recorded music. It's enabling church youth to hold weekly concerts and productions every Saturday night at the church-owned coffeehouse, and it's rigging a 20,000 square-foot tent twice a year so the 3,000 attendees of a church conference can renew their faith.
For Gary Riley of Potter's House Church in Prescott, Ariz., it's all of the above, and then some. "Music is a great way for us to spread the message of God because it's a hook that draws people into the mood for worship, and prepares them to hear God's word," Riley said. "The right sound equipment makes all the difference in how well the message is heard."
Riley struggled for years to find the right mix of great sounding speakers in roadworthy, lightweight enclosures at an affordable price — until his favorite supplier turned him onto Mackie's fully active SRM450 loudspeakers. "My rep at CCI Solutions knows that when we buy sound equipment, we put it to use," Riley said. "So when he told me that Mackie's SRM450 puts out great sound in a rugged enclosure, I was ready to try it. And, they were priced only a bit higher than another brand of speakers we'd bought that were already showing wear and tear."
Mackie's SRM450 has since become Riley's speaker of choice because it not only puts out great sound in a portable, durable box, but also because its design enables tremendous flexibility for missionary work. "I've started ordering extra SRM450s to help equip new churches in the area as well as missionaries in third-world countries because you can plug a mic into the back and you've got a complete portable PA system that one person can easily lug around," Riley said. "And the molded enclosure is so tough that it can take all the abuse of rough handling and hostile travel conditions while still putting out a consistently powerful, clean signal."
Today, Riley has more than two dozen SRM450s. Some are permanently installed in the church's coffeehouse and partnered with a Mackie SR32-4-VLZ Pro mixing console. The rest are frequently parceled out for special events like holiday floats, tent conferences, youth productions, and band shell concerts — all used with Mackie's equally portable and durable CFX•12 mixer.
When CCI Solutions told Riley about the smaller Mackie SRM350 Active Loudspeaker, Riley jumped at the chance to order eight as stage monitors for the church's next tent conference. "The SRM350 is a terrific addition to our lineup of portable, rugged, powerful speakers for all of our evangelical concerts, dramatic productions and sermons, and it's at a price point that makes the most of our sound equipment budget," he said.
Riley continued, "Best of all, our Mackie gear keeps our musicians and worship leaders sounding great wherever we go to reach out to people, from a small coffeehouse in Arizona to a huge band shell in San Diego or a tent in the middle of Africa. And that's the whole point of the evangelism behind our faith."
