Live sound rental companies operate in one of the most demanding environments in the audio industry. Every event is different. Every load-in is tight. Every venue presents new acoustic challenges. And every client expects flawless performance. For rental and production companies, success depends on gear that delivers three things without compromise:
- Professional-grade sound
- Reliable, tour-ready durability
- Fast, repeatable deployment
That’s exactly where the Mackie DRM Series, and specifically the DRM-12A line array system, excels.

The Sweet Spot: Professional Power on the Road
The DRM Series strikes a powerful balance between high-end professional sound and practical, scalable deployment. It delivers serious output, impressive coverage, and true line array performance while remaining compact, manageable, and accessible.
The Power to be Heard
- Up to 2300W total power with high-efficiency Class D amplification
- Universal power supply (100-240 VAC) allows for easy deployment at a variety of venues
- Power Factor Correction ensures consistent performance even with unstable AC power
- Impressive 135 dB max SPL covers crowds of up to 1,000.
- Flyable array design lets you stack up to four DRM12A cabinets and two DRM18S subwoofers with constant curvature, for even dispersion among your audience

Advanced Impulse™ DSP: Built-In Optimization for Any Venue
In large permanent installations, front-of-house engineers often have complete control from acoustically treated mix positions. But rental companies may not share that same luxury. From pop-up festivals to corporate events, every venue behaves differently. This is where DRM’s Advanced Impulse™ DSP tuning becomes a major advantage.
The built-in DSP corrects acoustic anomalies, aligns phase response, and optimizes output, so the system adapts to its environment. Rental technicians can quickly dial in presets and achieve a refined, controlled sound without needing hours of external processing and tuning. This results in faster setup and optimization, consistent performance, and replicable reliability for rental riggers running tight timelines (say that five times fast!).

Total Control Anywhere: The DRM Control Dashboard™
DRM Series loudspeakers give you total control of every potential scenario thanks to the DRM Control Dashboard™. DRM Control is an advanced on-board processing suite designed to give technicians fast, precise control all from within the speaker cabinet. At the center of DRM Control is a high-contrast, full-color display that gives you immediate insight into your system.
Let’s check out the features of DRM Control under the lens of how they will improve your next rental production:
- Venue Specific Voice mode (loudspeaker models)
- Array Modes (DRM12A only)
- 3-Band Parametric EQ
- Alignment Delay
- Snapshot Recall
- Secure Lock Screen
1. Voice Modes for Easy Optimization
DRM includes four professional voice modes designed to quickly adapt the system to different applications:
- Live Mode: A flat EQ response that is ideal when a front-of-house engineer is shaping the sound from a mixer. This provides a neutral starting point for professional system tuning.
- Club Mode: Scoops the midrange and enhances low and high frequencies to create a powerful, bass-forward sound profile that works well for DJs and dance-focused events.
- Speech Mode: Optimized for vocal clarity in live performances, presentations, and spoken word applications.
- Monitor Mode: Rolls off low frequencies to reduce stage rumble and improve clarity in floor monitor situations.
Instead of spending valuable time building EQ curves from scratch, crews can start with a purpose-built voicing that fits the event immediately.
2. Array Modes
When using the DRM12A, the menu allows you to quickly configure between single, dual, or three-to-four array speaker settings. This will automatically apply corrections to the high-frequency and low-frequency output depending on the speaker positioning, allowing members of the audience farther away to still hear a smooth and maintained performance.
3. Built-In Parametric EQ With Real-Time Analyzer
One of the most powerful features of DRM Control Dashboard™ is its integrated parametric EQ and 15-band real-time analyzer. The display shows live frequency activity, allowing you to visually identify problem areas such as:
- Feedback frequencies
- Frequency buildup
- Harsh resonances
- Low-end rumble
With precise parametric control over frequency, gain, and bandwidth, technicians can fine-tune the system to match the acoustic environment. Because the processing happens inside the speaker, you reduce reliance on external processing racks. This helps streamline gain staging, minimize noise issues, and simplify system deployment. For rental companies, fewer external components mean fewer points of failure.
4. Built-In Time Alignment
The Delay menu provides up to 100 ms of delay and automatically calculates distance compensation. When deploying speakers across large outdoor areas or distributed setups, proper time alignment is critical. Instead of manually calculating delay based on distance, DRM handles the math for you, helping ensure coherent coverage across the entire audience area. This is especially valuable for festivals, extended throw applications, and delay tower setups.
5. Snapshot Recall for Faster Setup
The Configuration menu allows you to store up to six snapshots of your system settings. For rental companies that regularly service the same venues or event types, this is a major time saver. Simply recall your saved configuration and you are ready to go. Less time tuning means more time focusing on the performance!
6. Secure Your Settings
The Lock function protects the system from accidental or unauthorized changes. Once setup is complete, you can secure the speaker controls, so no one tampers with the preferred configuration. For rental providers and production managers, that peace of mind is critical.

Fast Setup. Fast Teardown. Repeat.
Who needs “hurry up and wait” when you can earn time back on your next production?
The DRM12A line array system is compact and designed for streamlined deployment. Rigging is straightforward with seven M10 fly points and optional FB100 fly bar hardware. The manageable cabinet size makes for a tight but effective array system of up to four DRM12A 12” arrays and two DRM18S 18” subwoofers, easily stacked and flown by small to mid-size crews.
When production schedules are compressed, sometimes with only one or two days to build an entire show, equipment that saves even a few minutes at each stage can make a measurable difference. In live production, small delays rarely stay small and can lead to exponential consequences. Efficiency at the beginning protects the entire event timeline. DRM helps crews deploy array quickly, tune efficiently, and stay on schedule. Less friction means smoother events, stronger results, and more confidence from your clients.

Real-World Proof: Terra Terra Festival, Netherlands
A strong example of DRM in action came at Terra Terra Festival, held on September 7, 2025, on the beach of Hoek van Holland in the Netherlands. The event brought together around 600 attendees for a beachfront celebration featuring Caribbean music, Afro Beats, and sounds from Cabo Verde.
The system was deployed by rental company Pulse AVL, with distribution support from Mafico Benelux. The main PA consisted of eight DRM12A line array cabinets flown in two hangs of four, supported by eight DRM18S subwoofers on the ground. For monitoring, the production utilized DRM212 loudspeakers and additional DRM18S units as booth monitors, along with SRM212 V-Class cabinets for artist monitoring. The system delivered ample coverage, reaching approximately 35 meters in depth (or nearly 115 feet for those of us on the imperial system!).
With only two days allocated for the full production, speed and efficiency were critical. The compact size of the DRM12A made placement and rigging fast and manageable. Rigging preparation was completed the day before, allowing the crew to move quickly on event day and begin testing and tuning on schedule. The built-in DSP played a major role in achieving optimal performance without lengthy external processing. According to the production team, it was easy to extract maximum results from the system in a short amount of time.
Seven crew members handled setup and teardown, with three managing the show itself. After the event concluded, the team completed cleanup that same night. For a beachfront production with sand, weather variables, and a tight turnaround, DRM delivered reliable, professional results under pressure.
